Barzani Charity Foundation Marks 21 Years of Humanitarian Service
ARK News.. The Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF) marked its 21st anniversary on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2026, reaffirming its commitment to the humanitarian principle expressed in the late Mustafa Barzani's well-known saying: "It is an honor for a person to serve their people."
About the Barzani Charity Foundation
The Barzani Charity Foundation is a non-governmental, non-political, and non-profit humanitarian organization based in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Its core activities include managing camps for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, providing humanitarian assistance to people affected by crises, and supporting persons with disabilities and orphaned children.
Since its establishment, the foundation has carried out its work in line with Mustafa Barzani's guiding principle, continuing to provide humanitarian services to vulnerable communities.
Founded in 2005 in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, the foundation has expanded its international presence. It maintains an official office in the United States, while Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani serves as chairman of its founding board.
The foundation is officially licensed by both the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Government of Iraq. It also obtained official registration to operate in the United States in 2016.
In April 2016, the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) granted the foundation special consultative status. In April 2020, it received official registration from the UK Charity Commission and was also licensed as a charitable organization in Kuwait.
Humanitarian Work Beyond Iraq: The Barzani Charity Foundation's humanitarian activities extend beyond the Kurdistan Region and Iraq, reaching countries including Turkey, Syria, Serbia, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Yemen, Bangladesh, and South Sudan, among others.
Its projects are implemented with the support of donors, partners, and volunteers, enabling the organization to respond wherever humanitarian assistance is needed.
The foundation's headquarters are located in Erbil, and it establishes field offices wherever required to implement humanitarian projects.

The foundation's mission is "to deliver services and assistance that promote peace and security for people and the environment."
Its vision is: "To strive for a world free of poverty, where everyone enjoys equal and fair access to essential services, quality education, and a safe environment."
The Barzani Charity Foundation says it is committed to providing humanitarian assistance that meets the needs of orphans, widows, refugees, internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, low-income families, and other vulnerable groups, while complying with applicable laws and regulations and continuously improving its quality management system in accordance with ISO international standards.
