Al-Shaibani Discusses Ways to Strengthen Syria–Lebanon Bilateral Relations with Aoun
ARK News.. Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani arrived in Beirut to meet senior Lebanese officials, marking his first visit to the country since U.S. President Donald Trump suggested that Syrian forces could potentially assume the task of confronting the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon.
During the visit, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Asaad Hassan al-Shaibani met Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at Baabda Palace in Beirut on Thursday, July 2, 2026.
The meeting focused on ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries on the basis of mutual respect and good neighbor ties, enhance mechanisms for economic cooperation, and discuss the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Al-Shaibani also met Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri in the Lebanese capital, Beirut.
