ARK News.. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had carried out an airstrike in northwestern Syria that resulted in the death of a senior leader of the Islamic State (ISIS), as part of ongoing operations targeting the group's members in the region.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, CENTCOM said that the strike was conducted on June 19 and killed Ali Hussein al-Allawi, whom it described as a senior ISIS leader.

The command added that "the operation is part of ongoing efforts to disrupt the organization's activities and prevent its members from carrying out attacks against U.S. interests, allies, and partners in the region," noting the continuation of cooperation with regional partners to counter the group's remaining capabilities.

U.S. Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper stated that U.S. forces and their partners remain "committed to eliminating the remaining remnants of ISIS to ensure its enduring defeat," stressing that efforts will continue to protect American forces, allies, and partners throughout the region.

The operation comes as part of ongoing U.S. military efforts against ISIS in Syria and Iraq aimed at limiting the activities and operational capabilities of the group's cells.
