Al-Monitor: Mazloum Abdi Prepares to Visit the Kurdistan Region to Meet President Barzani

According to Al-Monitor on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, the visit is part of the Biden administration's efforts to strengthen ties between the Kurdistan Region and the administration in northeastern Syria.
On Monday, January 13, 2025, Dr. Hamid Darbandi, President Barzani's envoy, traveled to Syrian Kurdistan to hold separate meetings with the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) and SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi.
Reports indicate that Darbandi conveyed a message from President Barzani to the SDF Commander and the leadership of the KNC. The message emphasized the importance of Kurdish unity and the need to confront the current challenges facing Syria.
