Masrour Barzani Delivers 10 Key Messages
ARK News.. The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Masrour Barzani, conveyed 10 important messages during the opening of an extraordinary cabinet meeting held on Saturday, January 11, 2025.
Here are the 10 messages:
The Current Approach of Baghdad: The behavior of Baghdad towards the Kurdistan Region is unjust, unfair, and unacceptable.
Undermining Constitutional Status: Baghdad treats the Kurdistan Region in a manner unbefitting its status as a constitutional federal entity, a treatment that is not even appropriate for an Iraqi province.
Fixing Relations: We must correct the relationship between Erbil and Baghdad based on the constitution and adhere to its principles.
Ending Unjust Treatment: In 2025, we must act to alleviate the psychological stress on our people. Our people do not deserve such treatment; their struggles should be respected.
Demanding Equality: We call on Baghdad to respect our constitutional rights and ensure equality. We must make every effort to address and resolve the ongoing issues.
Federal Court Bias: The Federal Court has consistently issued rulings in favor of the federal government, while decisions benefiting the people of the Kurdistan Region have been obstructed.
Beyond Salaries: Our problems are not limited to salaries alone. Unfortunately, Baghdad has successfully minimized our challenges through strategic policies.
Unresolved Issues: Article 140 remains unimplemented, the issue of disputed territories is unresolved, the status of the Peshmerga forces has not been properly addressed, and compensation for the victims of Anfal and genocide under the former regime has not been provided.
Unity is Crucial: We must remain united in our dealings with Baghdad. Political divisions within Kurdistan should not hinder our representatives from advocating for the region as a whole.
A Century of Sacrifices: For 100 years, Kurdistan has sacrificed—whether for salaries, identity, land, homeland, equality, or freedom.
