KNC calls on National Coalition to improve conditions and stop violations

ARK NEWS.. The Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) in a statement called on the institutions of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces to exert more efforts to improve the living and service conditions in the areas of Afrin, Sari Kaniye and Gire Spi, with a focus on stopping the ongoing violations against the population, ending the imposition of tributes and unjust practices by some armed factions of the National Army, and holding those responsible for them accountable.

On Wednesday and Thursday, 20 and 21 November 2024, a leading delegation of the Kurdish National Council in Syria, (KNC) headed by Suleiman Oso, held a meeting with the leadership of the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces, headed by Hadi al-Bahra, the presidency of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) said in a statement received by ARK News.

The meeting aimed at strengthening the national partnership between the components of the Syrian opposition on the basis of common national values and interests and the agreements signed between the two parties that define the political and organizational principles of the relationship between the Kurdish National Council and the Coalition.

During the meeting, KNC representatives stressed the importance of working together and advancing the political process in accordance with UN Resolution 2254 as a roadmap for achieving a comprehensive political transition.

They pointed out the need to achieve social reconciliation based on the principles of accountability and responsibility for those involved in crimes and violations against the Syrian people in order to ensure the establishment of a democratic state that respects the rights of the Kurdish people and all components of Syria.

The KNC stressed the need to increase international support for Syrians in the relief and humanitarian fields and to ensure the return of refugees in a safe and dignified manner.

The KNC called on the institutions of the National Coalition to exert greater efforts to improve the living and service conditions in the areas of Afrin, Sari Kaniye and Gire Spi, with a focus on stopping the ongoing violations against the population, ending the imposition of tributes and unjust practices by some armed factions affiliated to the National Army, and holding those responsible accountable.

The Council underlined the need to put an end to demographic change in conflict-affected areas and to create a safe and stable environment to ensure the dignified return of displaced persons to their homes, thereby contributing to the restoration of the social fabric of the Syrian people.

For its part, the leadership of the National Coalition expressed its understanding of the KNC's concerns regarding the situation in the affected areas and stressed its commitment to implementing the agreements signed between the two parties and the contents of the joint memorandum of understanding.

The leadership of the National Coalition also stressed the importance of addressing the issues discussed and working to strengthen coordination in order to achieve the objectives of the Syrian opposition in building a democratic state.

At the end of the statement the KNC reaffirmed its firm commitment to continue working with all components of the Syrian opposition to achieve the aspirations of the Syrian people to build a democratic and just state for all its people.
