President Barzani: The relationship between the Kurdish and Egyptian peoples is Historic
ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani emphasized the historic, friendly, and impactful ties between the Kurdish and Egyptian peoples.
President Barzani’s remarks came during a meeting with Mahmoud Farouk Amer, the Egyptian Consul General in Erbil, on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at the Salahuddin Resort.
During the meeting, Consul General Amer extended his congratulations to President Barzani on the successful Kurdistan Parliament elections. He praised the high voter turnout and the peaceful, orderly conduct of the elections as a significant accomplishment, reflecting the Kurdistan Region’s progress and prominent standing in Iraq and the broader region.
The Consul General also commended the Kurdish people's culture of coexistence and peace, highlighting President Barzani's pivotal role in preserving and strengthening these values.
President Barzani, in turn, reaffirmed the strong bonds between the Kurdish and Egyptian peoples, describing them as deeply rooted and significant.
President Barzani highlighted the Kurdish people's history of struggle and sacrifice, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of coexistence and peace as the primary means to alleviate the suffering and hardships faced by the region's peoples.
The discussion also touched on the political situation in Iraq and the region, as well as the relationship between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the Iraqi federal government.
It is worth noting that both sides underscored the importance of the recent visit by Iraq’s Prime Minister to the Kurdistan Region, describing it as a positive step toward enhancing cooperation and resolving outstanding disputes.
