UNICEF: The reality of Syrian society is painful
ARK News... The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) described, on Tuesday, the reality of Syrian society as "painful", especially for women and children, who found themselves mired in the most complex emergency situations in the world.
The organization said in a statement that two-thirds of Syrians are in dire need of aid, due to the economic crisis and the destruction of infrastructure.
She pointed out that 50 percent of Syrian families suffer from food insecurity, amid high rates of child exploitation and the collapse of the medical and educational systems.
More than 4 million people live in northwestern Syria, half of whom are displaced, and 90% of them depend on humanitarian aid.
On Monday, the representative of the United States of America, Linda Thomas Greenfield, renewed her rejection of the conditions set by the Syrian regime for the entry of aid into Syria, through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey, and stressed that Russia is responsible for the failure to deliver aid.
