The Iranian regime executed more than 350 people during the first half of this year

ARK News... The Iranian regime executed at least 354 people in the first six months of 2023, according to what a human rights organization announced, on Monday, July 3, 2023, in a significant increase compared to last year.

The Human Rights Organization in Iran said, according to AFP: The Iranian regime executed 354 people as of June 30, 2023, an increase of 36 percent over the same period last year.

The organization, based in Norway, indicated that 20 percent of executions in Iran involved people from the Sunni Baluch minority, considering this an indication that executions target more ethnic and religious minorities.

It reported that 206 people were executed after being convicted of drug-related offences, an increase of 126 percent from last year.

Two of the death sentences were carried out in public, while six of them affected women.

The director of the organization, Mahmoud Amiri Muqaddam, said, "The majority of those killed are unpaid victims of the (official) killing machine, accused of drug cases and belonging to the most marginalized communities."

According to the organization's figures, the authorities carried out 582 death sentences by hanging in 2022, the highest toll since 2015.

According to Amnesty International, Iran ranks second in the world, after China, in terms of execution sentences.

According to the human rights organization Hengaw, the Iranian regime executed 52 people over the past month, most of them Kurds and Baluchis.
