Kurdish National Council’s statement regarding the events of Gweran prison

ARK News... Groups of sleeper cells of the terrorist organization, on Thursday 20-1-2022, carried out an attack with explosives on the vicinity of Al-Sina’a Prison in the Gweran neighborhood in Hasaka city, which is holding thousands of ISIS members, followed by a direct attack on the prison itself from the neighboring neighborhoods,

This terrorist attack resulted in the martyrdom of a number of prison guards and defenders, SDF fighters, and a number of civilians. The news indicates that a group of ISIS elements detained there has escaped from prison, which poses a great danger to the population and to the security and stability of the region, while the International Coalition and SDF forces are pursuing them, this attack comes at a time when ISIS has increased its activity on both sides of the Syrian-Iraqi border, targeting safe villages and Peshmerga forces.

We in the Kurdish National Council in Syria, while condemning the terrorist operation of ISIS and those behind it, stress the increased suffering of the people of Hasaka city in light of the worsening living and service conditions and the need to provide the necessary needs to alleviate this suffering.

And we call on the leadership of SDF to work to put an end to the state of corruption and to single out the fateful decisions of our people and the violations practiced by armed groups affiliated with the PYD under its various names, which target freedoms, political action and the unity of the Kurdish position, and to thwart any endeavor in this direction. We also call on the international coalition to assume its responsibilities in working to protect the region and support its stability through a joint administration that represents all its components and to find a solution for thousands of detained ISIS elements by finding appropriate mechanisms for their deportation and obligating the governments of the countries to which they belong to restore and prosecute them and ensure that they do not return. It also calls on the international coalition forces to Work to eliminate the spread of terrorist outposts and dry up its sources.

We also call on our people to be vigilant and wary of foreign elements, and we call on all components to cooperate to preserve civil peace and protect their children from the danger of terrorism and terrorists.
