A statement by the campaign organizers indicated that for some time, some have been irresponsibly trying through media channels and social networking sites to try to whitewash the page of those accused of exterminating the Kurdish people, and the fascist Baathist regime, trying to show the head of the former Iraqi regime, the criminal Saddam Hussein, as if he was a just person and subject to the law, in his hands, and his regime is stained with the blood of about one million of our Kurdish people, and likewise from the Iraqi peoples.

The statement added that some media and communication sites, whether intentionally or out of ignorance, are trying to beautify the ugly face of the Baath leaders and Saddam Hussein, who was tried by the Iraqi High Criminal Court on charges of genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity, which leaves very negative effects on some of the youth, especially on social media.

In their statement, the organizations specialized in genocide issues, civil society activists and Kurdish writers called on the Kurdistan Parliament to expedite the issuance of a law criminalizing genocide denial and preventing the glorification of those accused of it.

The statement also called on the Ministry of Culture and Youth in the Kurdistan Regional Government, until the issuance of the law by the Kurdistan Parliament, to punish channels that deny genocide against the people of Kurdistan by glorifying those accused of this crime.
