ARK News: Today, December 22, 2021, is the thirteenth anniversary of the departure of the struggler Mohammad Nazir Mustafa, the former Secretary-General of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria (al-Party).

A glimpse into the life of the struggler Mohammad Nazir Mustafa:

The struggler Mohammad Nazir Mustafa was born in 1939 in the city of Derik in Syrian Kurdistan, and he is from a patriotic militant family (the family of Ali Younis, the leaders of the Sason revolution in Kurdistan of Turkey).

He joined the party ranks in February 1958 and was included in party positions, where he was elected a member of the Central Committee and then the Political Bureau in the first party conference (after the conference that followed the Unification National Conference) which was held in Kurdistan of Iraq in 1972.

In August 1973 he was arrested with a group of party leaders because of their position rejecting the implementation of the Arab Belt in Hasaka governorate and he remained in prison until 1981, he spent part of it in a single cell, and after his release from prison, he was separated from the party organizationally but remained connected politically and ideologically to it.

After the departure of the General Secretary of the party, the martyr Kamal Ahmed, his desire met with the desire of the comrades to lead the party by returning to the ranks of the party, so he was elected at the party’s eighth conference as a member of the central committee and then as a secretary of the central committee, despite his absence from the conference due to his illness.

The struggler Mustafa is the first to graduate from the Faculty of Law from the Kurdish students and he was the first Kurdish lawyer in Hasaka governorate, practiced law profession with integrity and unparalleled sincerity, and was considered the primary reference for lawyers in the province.

He was diagnosed with lung cancer at the end of 2006, and with a generous gesture from President Masoud Barzani, he was treated in the French capital, Paris, at the expense of the region’s presidency. After his return from France, his condition was followed up by Mr. Siwan Barzani, who was closely monitoring his condition and sending him treatment periodically from France on the basis of medical reports sent from Syria.

He passed away on the morning of Monday 22/12/2008, and by losing the Kurdish people and the Kurdish movement, he had a prominent knowledge of his national and militant features, and his party lost its best fighters and leaders.
