The Syrian opposition is moving in Washington to restore American interest in the Syrian file

ARK News… Ayman Abdul Nour, a Syrian writer, and dissident, said in Washington, on Tuesday, that the movements of the Syrian opposition in Washington aim at this stage to restore the US State Department's interest in the Syrian file, to move on to more effective moves that lead to a comprehensive political change process in which Washington participates.

As part of the series of moves, prominent figures from the Syrian opposition participated, earlier this week, in a seminar in the US Congress, which was attended by a number of deputies and senators, to talk about “the future of the military presence in Syria” and “ways to establish democracy and hold human rights violators accountable.”

In media statements, "Abdul Nour", who attended the seminar, said that the opposition sensed a consensus from the leaders responsible for foreign policies in the Republican and Democratic parties, and a desire "to hold Syrian President Bashar al-Assad accountable for the war crimes committed by his regime, in addition to dismantling the Syrian drug network, Stop normalization with the Syrian regime, and confront any attempts to violate Caesar’s Law or any other US sanctions targeting the regime.”

According to the political opponent, "the Syrian opposition called on Washington to involve all levels of the US government in taking the decision on the Syrian issue and to prevent the monopoly of the Syrian file by the US National Security Coordinator Brett McGurk."

On Monday, Jeffrey published an article in the American newspaper "Foreign Affairs", after his participation in the Syrian opposition seminar, in which he called on President Biden's administration to lead a new campaign of diplomatic moves to reach a final solution to the conflict in Syria.

Washington renewed its opposition to the steps of normalization with "Damascus", and a number of ideas that would push for a political transition in Syria were discussed.
