ARK News… President Masoud Barzani on Wednesday received in Salahuddin Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and his accompanying delegation.

During the meeting, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister conveyed to President Barzani the greetings of President Putin and the Russian Foreign Minister, stressing the importance and status of the people of Kurdistan and the role of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq and the region, and pointed out that the Kurdistan Region, for Russia, has a major role in Iraq and a factor of stability.

Also during the meeting, views were exchanged on the political situation in Iraq and the parliamentary elections that were held last October.

In another part of the meeting, the two sides discussed the terrorist threat to the stability of the region, and the two sides agreed on the need to end the causes of the emergence of terrorism.

The two sides also discussed the situation in Syria, and President Barzani expressed to the guest delegation his perceptions and concerns about the future of the Kurdish people in Syria.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister referred to the historical relations that bring together the peoples of Kurdistan and Russia, and praised the historical role of the Barzani family in strengthening those relations, and expressed his hope that the horizons of his country's relations with the Kurdistan Region would expand further.
