ARK News… Kurdistan Regional Government Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, on Thursday, November 25, renewed the Kurdistan Regional Government's commitment to continue supporting women's rights, eliminating all forms of gender discrimination and violence in general, and violence against women in particular, in a statement on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
In a statement on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and the launch of the 16-day campaign to combat violence against women, the Prime Minister said, "We renew the commitment of the Kurdistan Regional Government to continue supporting women's rights, eliminating all forms of gender discrimination and violence in general, and violence against women in particular".
Adding, "The Kurdistan Regional Government, while working hard to provide an appropriate environment for women's protection and empowerment, to be able to participate with the skills they possess, to become an effective element in all aspects of Kurdistan society, is committed to protecting and defending women, and enhancing their position within the government's joints." and society, and consolidating a culture of respect for the principles of human rights, equality and social justice, and combating all forms of discrimination on the basis of sex, especially violence.
Adding, by saying, “On this occasion, I call upon all concerned parties, especially educational institutions inside and outside the government, civil society organizations, religious institutions, and the media, to cooperate and assist the government and play a pivotal role in spreading the values of tolerance and community awareness and putting an end to violence and negative social phenomena, because the fight against violence and the judiciary, it is the duty of society as a whole, which requires all of us to work to eradicate this uncivilized phenomenon.”
Masrour Barzani continued, "I hope that the Kurdistan Region, with the support of all, will become a shining example of protecting human rights and ending all forms of violence, especially gender-based violence."
