Afrin.. Gunmen reap the harvest of Samac, almonds and nuts
ARK News.. A Human Rights Organization working to monitor violations against Kurdish civilians in the Kurdish region of Afrin, said that gunmen are looting the harvest of sumac, almonds and walnuts in the villages of the two township of Rajo and Mabata, on the pretext that the fields belong to the campus of forest land.
The Human Rights Organization in Afrin in a report on July 10, 2020 said: The armed elements of the Majd faction controlling the following villages (Zarka - Qasim - Chobana -Koran) of Raj township since the date of 08/08/2020 have been harvesting the sumac crop in front of the farmers' eyes from the people of the villages under the pretext that they are located on the edge of the fields and that they belong to the forests of the forest lands, and they also harvest the almond and walnut crop before ripening by force of arms and shipped to the Hal market in the city of Afrin and sold it for their own benefit without any right despite the fact that it passes through the military checkpoints without accountability or censor .
The organization added: The armed elements of the brigade of Sultan Muhammad al-Fateh, led by Abu Asef, who control the village of Kurkan Foqaani of Mabata on 07/09/2020, reaped the harvest of sumac belonging to the people of the village in the form of human flocks and the sale of the estimated crop of one ton for their personal benefit. In addition to preventing the Kurds from storing household supplies from their livelihoods.
The organization pointed out: The armed elements belonging to the Samarkand faction controlling Rota and the surrounding villages stole the crop of sumac, owned by the Kurdish citizens, randomly from the fields and sent for sale in the city of Afrin to secure their livelihood and the lives of their children as they claim.
It is worth mentioning that violations by the armed factions loyal to the Turkish army against civilians in Afrin region continue of taxes, kidnappings, ransom, burning forests for firewood, and accusing the Kurds of extorting them financially and reaping Kurdish agricultural harvests to reach a comprehensive demographic change after forcing the Kurds to leave their homes.
