Erbil Governor Extends Nighttime Lockdown
ARK News.. The government in Erbil, the capital city of Kurdistan Region, announced on Saturday the extension of the nighttime lockdown to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the province.
A statement by the Erbil Operation Room explained that the new partial lockdown will go into effect on July 11, at 11:59 pm, ending on July 18, at 11:59 pm, during which all marketplaces and movements of vehicles and pedestrians will be banned from 12:00 am to 5:00 am without affecting the pharmacies and medical centers.
Travel ban between Erbil and other provinces will remain in place.
All religious sites, wedding halls, other related places, gyms, swimming pools will be closed, while no ceremonies, including funerals, will be allowed to take place either, according to the statement.
However, restaurants and cafes are allowed to open but expected to work based on the guidelines of the health ministry.
The statement further noted that the government offices will opened but that they would work at a 30% capacity only.
