Dr. Farid Saadoun: Hasaka will remain without water

ARK News.. The Kurdish academic, Dr. Farid Saadoun revealed that the city of Hasaka will remain without water, and the reason is because the city is located in a Sabkha region free of underground water, and if there are some basins, it is shallow and unhelpful, and therefore drilling wells does not benefit or save the situation.

In a special statement to ARK News, Dr. Farid Saadoun said: After a group of people interested in public affairs met with Ahmed Owaid Al-Saeed, head of the Hasaka Governorate Council, it became clear that the city of Hasaka will remain without water, and digging the inner wells will not save the situation, and the city of Hasaka is located in Sabkha free from Esoteric water.

The Kurdish academic confirmed that there are two solutions that have no third for the water crisis in Hasaka:

1- Operating an Alok station, and this needs an agreement with Turkey, and any agreement with Turkey will definitely be in its favor, especially since Turkey imposes a condition that will not be waived, which is water in exchange for electricity.

2- Extending a line from the Euphrates or the Tigris, and there is an old line that was extended from the Euphrates towards Hasaka, but it has been looted and vandalized by the militias, and its rehabilitation needs a huge budget, and there is no willing party to pay it, and as for pumping water from the Tigris River, it also needs an agreement with Turkey.

The Kurdish academic added: Based on the above and what was discussed with the head of the Hasaka provincial council, there is no solution at the present time to the water crisis in the city of Hasaka, and the Russians entered the line to press Turkey to pump water from the Alok station continuously.
