Erbil Province to Impose Six-day Complete Lockdown
ARK News.. Authorities in Kurdistan Region's capital Erbil on Sunday evening announced a six-day complete lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the province.
According to an order by the ministry of interior, the new lockdown will go into effect on June 29, at 6:00 am and it will end on July 4, during which no traffic across the province or movements of pedestrians will be allowed.
However, the new measures will not affect pharmacies, bakeries, supermarkets, grocery stores, or other vehicles dedicated to delivering necessities to the citizens, a statement explained.
No traffic between Erbil and other provinces is allowed under any circumstances.
This comes a few hours after Erbil Governor Firsat Sofi warned that the province could face a possible "catastrophe" if the anti-coronavirus measures are not tightened soon.
Only in Erbil, nearly 25 people have so far died from the coronavirus while more than 430 infections have been confirmed
