
World Diplomats Congratulate Fouad Hussein on His Appointment as Iraq’s FM
ARK News.. A number of senior diplomats from around the world have sent their best wishes to Kurdish politician Fouad Hussein after his appointment as the new foreign minister of Iraq.
Hussein, who previously served as Iraq’s finance minister and deputy prime minister, was granted confidence by the Iraqi parliament on Saturday.
The parliament also approved six other nominees to fill the vacant ministerial posts at the cabinet of PM Mustafa al-Kadhimi.
According to Anadolu Agency, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu held a phone call with Hussein to congratulate him on his appointment.
Former British consul general in Erbil, Martyn Warr, wrote on twitter that “Iraq could not have a better person to represent it overseas”.
James Thorntone, the current British consul general, also wished Hussein success and sent him congratulations in a message on Twitter.
