Coronavirus: Face Masks Included in New Public Transport Rules in Kurdistan

ARK News.. The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) said that people should wear face masks and cover their hands on public transportation as part of the new measures against the COVID-19 outbreak.

Erbil Traffic Police Spokesperson Fazil Haji told BasNews that the new rule with be put into effect starting from Sunday, 31 May.

“It includes taxi and bus drivers as well as the people using all the public transportation means,” Haji said.

Should the drivers avoid using face mask or they pick up a passenger without hand and facial protection, they will be fined with 50,000 Iraqi Dinar (approximately USD42).

Kurdistan Region has seen a rapid rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the past few days. The tally has reached 575 as of May 31, with five deaths and 409 recoveries.
