ARK News: The Syrian regime media said, on Monday, January 13, 2020, that Moscow hosted talks between Syrian and Turkish intelligence representatives, under Russian auspices.

According to the agency, "SANA", which is affiliated with the regime that the Syrian side, represented by the head of the National Security Office, Major General Ali Mamlouk, demanded the Turkish party, from which he participated in the tripartite talks, the head of the intelligence service, Haqqan Fidan, "fully committed to the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic." And its unity on land and people, in addition to "the immediate and complete withdrawal from all Syrian lands."

Mamlouk also called, according to the agency, "the need for Turkey to fulfill its obligations under the Sochi Agreement on Idlib dated September 17, 2018, especially with regard to clearing the region of terrorists and heavy weapons and opening the Aleppo-Latakia and Aleppo-Hama road."

Mamlouk stressed that "the Syrian state is determined to pursue its war against terrorism, liberate each Idlib region and return the state authority to it in a manner that guarantees security and safety for the Syrian citizens who are used by terrorist organizations as human shields in that region," according to the expression "SANA".

The agency noted that the meeting was held with the participation of "a number of Russian officials" without revealing their identity.

These talks, which were not officially confirmed by Moscow or Ankara, took place, after the Russian Defense Ministry announced that an agreement has been reached with Turkey on a cease-fire in the Idlib area of reduce the escalation, as of January 9, while the Turkish Ministry of Defense said that the truce entered into force at midnight on January 12.
