ARK News: On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, marks the ninth anniversary of the departure of struggler Sami Nasiro Jiwan’s father, who was one of the pillars of the national struggle in the Kurdish region of Afrin.

Brief summary of the life of the late:

The late Sami Nasiro, "Jiwan’s father", known as "Sheikh of the Mountain" was born on the fifth of August 1949 in Gorda village of Afrin.

He joined the ranks of the Kurdish Left Party in Syria in 1966 and was known as a patient, bridges, and honest struggler, then he moved to Ashrafiya neighborhood of Afrin in 1980, and in 2005 he led the Kurdish People's Union Party with struggler Mustafa Juma and his comrades to unity with the Left Kurdish Democratic Party in the framework of the Kurdish Azadi Party (Azadi Party joined the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria during the unifying conference in 2014).

As a result of his sincere struggle to the arrest, torture, prosecution, and interrogation dozens of times by the security services of the Chauvinist Ba'athist regime, he was last arrested by the Political Security in Aleppo in 1988 and was released after eleven days, during which he was exposed to severe torture.

Sami Nasiro was married and the father of five children, "four girls and a young man", died on 24 July 2010 after a heart attack, and thousands of Kurdish people participated his funeral and he was buried in his hometown in Gorda village of Afrin.
