Washington proposes the deployment of medium-range missiles in Japan

Feb 06 2023

ARK News… The Sankei newspaper reported that Washington proposed deploying medium-range missiles in Japan, as part of a plan to strengthen defenses in the face of China in its eastern and southern seas, quoting unidentified sources.

The newspaper added on Saturday that sending equipment to US forces in Japan may include long-range hypersonic weapons and Tomahawk missiles.

It said Tokyo was determined to start serious discussions toward accepting the deployment.

The location of the weapons deployment was not disclosed, but Sankei said Japan was considering the southern island of Kyushu. It was not clear from the report whether Sankei quoted one or more sources.

Japan and the United States want to support the islands that separate the East China Sea from the western Pacific Ocean because they are close to Taiwan, which China considers a part of.
