Afrin .. taxes in the harvest season grape leaves
ARK News: The sufferings of the Kurdish peasants continue in the Kurdish region of Afrin in conjunction with the harvest season of grape leaves in the region as they suffer from the armed factions where the high taxes and the difficulties and obstacles to them.
A Kurdish peasant from Afrin, who preferred not to be named, told ARK Media today, May 11, 2019 that the armed groups are blocking the way of farmers who are going to go from villages to the city to sell their agricultural produce from the season of grape leaves by taking their identities to force to return to those military barriers in order to impose amounts of what was sold in al-Hal market.
The same peasant confirmed that the armed groups impose at some of military checkpoints half of the proceeds of the sale of the season's harvest by detecting the sale bills, which form a dissatisfaction between farmers and civilians.
It is worth mentioning that Afrin region is an agricultural area where most people depend on agricultural seasons such as olives, wheat, barley, vegetables, fruits, grape leaves, cumin, etc. However, because of the practices of the armed factions of imposing taxes and theft of products and harvesting crops in front of the real owners, the residents were exposed to the economic crisis and material losses.
