ARK News: The Turkish Foreign Ministry on Tuesday opened a representative office in the southern state of Hatay, near the border with Syria, to follow up developments in its territory "closely".

Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Yawoz Salim Kiran visited the new headquarters on Tuesday and briefed the start of the provision of services to citizens, the official Anatolia news agency reported.

Kiran said in a press statement that the representative office started its services from today with instructions from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Kiran added that the opening of the representative office in Hatay was due to the importance of the state in foreign policy and to "closely follow the developments within Syria, especially concerning migrants."
