James Jeffrey: The path of Astana could not provide a solution to the Syrian crisis
ARK News: The US Special Representative to Syria and the International Alliance for Defeat of Da’esh, James Jeffrey that the path of Astana did not lead to a result in a year and a half.
In remarks to Al-Hurrah, Geoffrey clarified that the United States believes that the solution to the Syrian conflict is "to reduce the intensity of the military intervention and I think we have succeeded in achieving this since last August."
"As President Trump has said that revitalizing the political process that has not made progress, and the defeat for Da’esh is important for Syria, and America is currently focusing on the political track," Jeffrey continued.
US Special Representative to Syria added that "the Astana group was unable to convince the Syrian regime to abide by the decision (225)”.
"Jeffrey also said that the Astana group is expected to travel to Geneva to talk to the UN and bring new ideas, and we hope they will succeed this time”.
