US newspaper: the United States and Turkey are discussing a new proposal on the safe area
ARK News: The Washington Post reported that the United States and Turkey have conducted a joint study of a new proposal on Syria.
The newspaper confirmed quoting from US and Turkish officials that the current discussions revolve around the possibility of joint patrols in the safe area to be established in northeastern Syria by 32 kilometers.
According to the newspaper, the new proposal includes the withdrawal of armed militants of the PYD from the region, and the US forces to undertake joint patrols, despite the US decision to reduce the number of troops in Syria.
A senior US official said that the differences between the two sides still exist, but there is a common desire to find solutions, pointing out that the United States wants to narrow the width of the safe area to be less than 32 km.
It is worth mentioning that US President Donald Trump failed to convince his allies in 21 European and Arab countries to send troops to Syria for deployment in areas east of the Euphrates, which the United States announced its withdrawal from them, which prompted him to discuss new solutions with Turkey insisting on the implementation of threats to expel the PYD militants from the region.
