U.S. Imposes Highest Tariffs on Syria Among 18 Arab Countries

ARK News.. The U.S. president has announced the imposition of tariffs on a group of American trade partners, including 18 Arab countries, with Syria facing the highest tariffs among them.

On Wednesday, April 2, 2025, President Donald Trump imposed a 41% tariff on Syrian imports—the highest among Arab nations—followed by Iraq at 39%, Libya at 31%, Algeria at 30%, Tunisia at 28%, and Jordan at 20%.

Meanwhile, a 10% tariff was applied to imports from Qatar, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Kuwait, Sudan, Yemen, Lebanon, Djibouti, Oman, Bahrain, and Morocco.

Trump stated that these tariffs aim to correct the U.S. trade imbalance and strengthen domestic production.
