36 human rights organizations and civil society call on the international community to stop the violations in Afrin

ARK News: Syrian human rights organizations and civil society activists called on Thursday, the international community and international human rights organizations to intervene to stop the "inhuman" violations which carried out by the armed groups in Afrin, Kurdistan of Syria.

Thirty-six human rights organizations and civil society said in a statement which ARK received a copy of it: "In recent times, armed groups have increased the frequency of violations and inhumane practices of indiscriminate abductions in order to collect ransom, robbery, armed robbery, seizure of houses and property, reaching to the extent of eviction of the people from their homes and property to displace the remaining residents who are clinging to their land”.

The statement added “on 30.3.2019 armed militias arrested at the entrance of Afrin city the national figure Mohammed Ali Ridha at the age of 80 years, a member of the Local Council of Kurdish National Council in Syria and handing over him to Political Security, noting that “according to his health care he was released on the spot and complete the investigation the next day”.

The statement added that “Through an investigation with him on 31.3.2019 they also arrested Hussein Ibish, a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party - Syria and the head of the Local Council of the Kurdish National Council in Syria from his home in the town of Shara, and he is still detained until the writing of this statement”.

The statement said: "We in the civil society organizations condemn these crimes and arbitrary arrests of Kurdish citizens in Afrin region, especially for symbols and national figures in the Kurdish political arena in the region” and demanded “to the release them and release of all detainees under the pretext of flimsy by the armed militias”.

Those organization also called on the international community and international human rights organizations to intervene to stop these practices and inhumane violations and to open safe corridors for the return of forcibly displaced people in special and to secure international protection of Kurdish areas in Kurdistan of Syria in general.
