Syrian president to travel to the US next week

ARK News.. Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is scheduled to travel to New York next week on a four-day official visit to the United States to participate in the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.

According to Syrian media sources, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is scheduled to deliver Syria’s address before the General Assembly, alongside a program of political meetings and dialogue events on the sidelines of the session.

According to sources, the Syrian president’s program includes a bilateral meeting with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio to discuss a number of shared issues, in addition to his participation in a dialogue session with US diplomat and lawyer Brett McGurk at the Atlantic Council, a US think tank focused on international affairs.

The upcoming visit will be President Ahmed al-Sharaa’s third to the United States, following his participation in September 2025 in the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, which included a series of political meetings, including a meeting with US President Donald Trump.

President al-Sharaa made another visit to the United States in November 2025, during which he held talks at the White House addressing US-Syrian relations, economic sanctions, and security cooperation issues, before returning to New York to participate again in United Nations meetings.
