Masrour Barzani Receives Taqaddum Party Leader Mohammed Al-Halbousi in Erbil

ARK News.. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister and Deputy President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Masrour Barzani, received Mohammed al-Halbousi, leader of the Taqaddum Party, and his accompanying delegation in Erbil on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

During a joint press conference following the meeting, Barzani and al-Halbousi stressed the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation among Iraq's political forces and reaffirmed their full support for the federal government in addressing the country's current security and economic challenges, as well as the broader regional situation.

Barzani welcomed al-Halbousi and the accompanying delegation, including several ministers, to the Kurdistan Region, expressing his pleasure at meeting him again following his recent visit to Baghdad.

He said the talks focused on bilateral relations between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Taqaddum Party, and on ways to enhance coordination and cooperation, particularly in light of the sensitive circumstances facing Iraq and the wider Middle East.

Barzani added that both sides shared the view that the current federal government, led by Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi, should be supported in managing the ongoing regional crises.

"We will continue to support the federal government and remain ready to cooperate with all our partners across Iraq," Barzani said.

For his part, al-Halbousi expressed his pleasure at visiting Erbil and meeting with the Kurdistan Region's leadership. He announced plans to hold a separate meeting with Masoud Barzani, emphasizing the importance of strengthening relations among political parties and blocs to safeguard state institutions and preserve Iraq's national standing.

Al-Halbousi also reaffirmed the commitment of Iraq's political forces to supporting the federal government under Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi and backing the implementation of its ministerial program in a manner that upholds Iraq's sovereignty and stability amid complex regional developments.

He concluded by calling for political actors to move beyond past disputes and work in a spirit of partnership and equality to improve the country's security and living conditions for its citizens.
