ARK News.. The agricultural sector in Duhok Governorate recorded significant growth this year, with approximately 120,000 tons of agricultural produce exported to Iraq's central and southern provinces as part of the Kurdistan Regional Government's efforts to support agricultural production and expand marketing opportunities.

Speaking to the media, Ahmed Jamil, Director General of Agriculture in Duhok, said the government is working to secure markets for the province's growing agricultural output, noting that Iraq's central and southern provinces remain the primary destinations for Duhok's produce.

He added that all exported shipments undergo inspection and quality control procedures before transportation, helping to support local farmers and strengthen economic stability.

In the same context, one local farmer said his annual potato harvest of around 500 tons is marketed entirely across various Iraqi provinces, attributing the success of sales to the high quality of the produce and strong market demand.

Duhok's local markets are currently experiencing an abundant supply of fresh fruits and vegetables alongside expanding marketing and export activities.

The growth comes under a government program aimed at opening new outlets for surplus agricultural products, with the goal of increasing the reach of locally produced crops into regional and international markets.
