Masrour Barzani and Anıl Bora İnan Stress the Importance of Strengthening Relations Between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey

ARK News.. Kurdistan Region Prime Minister Masrour Barzani received Anıl Bora İnan, Turkey’s Ambassador to Iraq, on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

The meeting, which was also attended by Erdman "Topçu," Turkey’s Consul General in the Kurdistan Region, emphasized the importance of strengthening and expanding relations between the Kurdistan Region and Turkey, particularly in the field of trade exchange.

The discussions also reviewed the outcomes of the prime minister's important and successful visit to Turkey last month, including his meetings and talks with the Turkish president and senior Turkish officials.

The two sides further exchanged views on the latest developments in Iraq and stressed the need to support the new federal government in addressing outstanding issues and confronting various challenges.

In another part of the meeting, discussions focused on the importance of advancing Iraq’s energy sector and the need to continue the export of Iraqi oil and Kurdistan Region oil through Turkey’s Ceyhan port. The participants also stressed the importance of increasing oil production in a manner that would contribute to higher public revenues and improve the country’s overall financial situation.
