President of the Kurdistan Region and Turkish Ambassador to Iraq Discuss Regional Developments

ARK News.. Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, received Anıl Bora İnan, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey to Iraq, along with an accompanying delegation, on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed relations between Turkey, Iraq, and the Kurdistan Region, as well as the political situation in Iraq and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, particularly in the economic and trade sectors. In this context, both sides emphasized the importance of continued coordination to preserve security and stability.

The two parties also exchanged views on the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and efforts to overcome and resolve internal disputes. They stressed the necessity of dialogue and mutual understanding between Erbil and Baghdad to address outstanding issues between them.

The peace process in Turkey, the latest regional developments, and the overall situation in the region constituted another focus of the meeting. Both sides expressed a shared view on the importance of peaceful solutions to problems and disputes, as well as the need to safeguard security and stability.
