Nechirvan Barzani and Araghchi Discuss the Need to Strengthen Security in the Middle East
ARK News.. President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, held a phone call with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, on Friday, May 22, 2026, during which they discussed the latest developments in the region and the importance of strengthening security and stability in the Middle East.
During the call, the two sides discussed enhancing relations between Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, and the Islamic Republic of Iran, particularly in the fields of economic and trade exchange.
They also exchanged views on ways to strengthen coordination to protect border security. In another part of the conversation, they reviewed the latest regional developments and stressed the importance of regional countries working together to consolidate security and stability in the Middle East.
The phone call also covered a number of issues of mutual interest.
