Prime Minister Masrour Barzani Receives New Apostolic Nuncio to Iraq Mirosław Wachowski

ARK News.. Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, received the newly appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Iraq, Mirosław Wachowski, on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

At the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister congratulated the ambassador on assuming his new post and affirmed the Kurdistan Regional Government’s full support in facilitating the success of his mission.

For his part, the Apostolic Nuncio conveyed the gratitude and appreciation of His Holiness the Pope to the Prime Minister for the Kurdistan Region’s role in safeguarding the rights of Christians and other communities, as well as promoting a culture of peaceful coexistence in the Kurdistan Region.

He also noted that Kurdistan holds a special place in the heart of His Holiness the Pope, who prays for continued progress, prosperity, and peace for the region.

The meeting also included discussions on the reforms being implemented by the Kurdistan Regional Government and the latest developments regarding talks on the formation of Iraq’s new federal government.
