The content of the meeting between President Barzani, Ali al-Zaidi, and the accompanying delegation from the Coordination Framework
ARK News... Masoud Barzani met with Ali al-Zaidi on Saturday, May 2, 2026, to discuss recent regional developments, emphasizing the need to resolve outstanding issues between the federal government and the Kurdistan Region in accordance with the constitution.
During the meeting, Barzani stressed that adherence to and implementation of the constitution remains the optimal path toward stability, calling on all parties to commit to constitutional principles.
The talks also underscored the importance of expediting the formation of the federal government in line with electoral entitlements and constitutional timelines.
For his part, al-Zaidi highlighted the need to overcome past challenges and open a new chapter in relations between Baghdad and Erbil.
He also called on the parliamentary and governmental blocs of the Kurdistan Democratic Party to return and actively participate in the political process and the formation of the federal government.
