“Ronaki” Project Delivers 24-Hour Electricity to 5.5 million Citizens in Kurdistan Region
ARK News.. The Ministry of Electricity in the Kurdistan Regional Government announced that 5.5 million citizens now enjoy round-the-clock electricity across all cities and towns in the Kurdistan Region.
In a statement issued on Thursday, April 23, 2026, the ministry said: “We are pleased to announce the provision of 24-hour electricity to approximately 5.5 million citizens, representing more than 85% of the population of the Kurdistan Region, within the framework of the ‘Ronaki’ project.”
As part of this step, a full 24-hour electricity supply will be secured for the cities of Zakho, Soran, Raparin, Pirmam, Akre, Semel, and Koya through the project, according to the ministry.
The statement added: “All residential subscribers who join the ‘Ronaki’ project in these areas will benefit from discounts of 50%, 25%, and 15% on electricity bills during the first three months, as part of the transitional phase toward the new electricity pricing system.”
