ARK News.. Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, attended on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, a funeral ceremony for two martyrs who were killed in the village of Zargazrawi in Erbil province as a result of recent attacks.

During his visit, the Prime Minister extended his sincere condolences and deep sympathy to the families and relatives of the two victims, expressing solidarity with the residents of the village in their painful loss.

In a press conference held on the sidelines of the funeral ceremony, Barzani strongly criticized the repeated targeting of the region, stating: “Unfortunately, the Kurdistan Region is being subjected to continuous attacks and violations without any justification or pretext.”

He revealed ongoing diplomatic efforts and direct communication with the Iranian side regarding these violations, saying: “We have spoken with the relevant Iranian parties and conveyed our dissatisfaction and official protest over these unjustified attacks on our citizens and our territory.”

Barzani stressed that such pressures and assaults will not deter the region from its principles, adding: “We will remain committed and continue on the path of our martyrs in the struggle for the freedom and dignity of our people. We will not stop defending our land, our homeland, and safeguarding its sovereignty.”

He added: “We appreciate the resilience and cooperation of the people of the Kurdistan Region, and we hope that this war and these tensions will come to an end, and that our people will achieve their aspirations.”

Regarding the continuity of attacks and the position of the Government of Iraq, Barzani noted: “Unfortunately, no practical steps have been taken so far to stop these attacks targeting the region.”

He further stated: “We have been in contact with various parties within the international community, the coalition, and our friends. All have expressed their support for the Kurdistan Region and for civilians, and we hope these positions will translate into effective actions to put an end to these assaults.”

Barzani affirmed that attacks on the Kurdistan Region are still ongoing, stressing that a major responsibility lies with the Iraqi government to deter those carrying out these attacks.

He emphasized that the regional government has done everything in its power and has communicated with all relevant parties to stop the attacks and violations.

On the Iranian attacks, Barzani said: “There is no justification for these assaults on the Kurdistan Region. We have conveyed our protest to the Iranian side and stressed that the region is not a party to this war and poses no threat to any side.”

He concluded by stating that targeting the people of the region is unjustified, and those responsible will be held accountable before God and public opinion.
