Kurdistan Region President, Dutch Foreign Minister Discuss Regional Developments

ARK News.. President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani received a phone call on Monday from Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen.

At the outset of the call, Barzani congratulated Berendsen on assuming his new role, wishing him success, and expressed his appreciation for the Netherlands’ continued support and assistance to the Kurdistan Region.

The two sides exchanged views on the latest developments in the ongoing war and the complex regional situation, with a particular focus on the serious repercussions for security, stability, and the global and regional economy. In this context, both parties stressed the importance of making every effort to halt the conflict and pursue peaceful solutions to disputes and crises.

For his part, the Dutch foreign minister expressed his country’s and the European Union’s concern over the potential expansion of the conflict and its consequences, reaffirming the Netherlands’ support for safeguarding security and stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

The call also addressed the impact of the war on the Kurdistan Region, relations between Erbil and Baghdad, the importance of keeping Iraq and the Kurdistan Region out of the conflict, and prospects for strengthening bilateral cooperation with the Netherlands.
