Erbil Calls on Baghdad to Put an End to Extremist and Outlaw Groups
ARK News.. The Kurdistan Regional Government Department of Foreign Relations strongly condemned the attacks targeting civilians, civil institutions, and diplomatic missions, confirming that the Consulate General of the United Arab Emirates in Erbil was targeted overnight.
In an official statement, the department said the “unjustified attacks constitute a blatant violation of international laws and norms,” adding that it was regrettable that the Emirati consulate had been targeted. However, it noted that fortunately the attack did not result in any casualties.
The statement reaffirmed Erbil’s consistent stance regarding the current tensions, stressing that the Kurdistan Region “is not part of this war, but has always been and will remain a supporter of peace, stability, and peaceful coexistence in the region.”
The Department of Foreign Relations also issued a direct call to the Government of Iraq in Baghdad, urging it to “assume its responsibilities in protecting Iraq’s sovereignty and to put an end to extremist and outlaw groups operating inside the country that continue to target the Kurdistan Region under false pretexts.”
