Tom Barrack: President Barzani a “Legendary Leader” with Exceptional Wisdom

The US President’s Special Envoy for Syrian Affairs, Tom Barrack, described Masoud Barzani as a “legendary leader” with “exceptional wisdom” following their meeting in the Kurdistan Region.
In a post published Tuesday morning, February 24, 2026, on the platform X, Barrack reshaped a photo from his meeting with President Barzani, commenting: “Exceptional wisdom from a legendary leader.”
The US envoy had arrived in Erbil on Monday, February 23, after a series of meetings with officials and political actors in Baghdad.
Barrack met President Barzani in Pirmam, in the presence of Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government.
During the meeting, Barrack expressed his pleasure at meeting President Barzani, praising his significant role in preventing the expansion of war and violence in the region. He also commended his efforts to calm recent developments in Syria and his role in supporting an agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
