Masrour Barzani, the Armenian Envoy, Stress Strengthening Ties Between the Kurdistan Region and Armenia

ARK News.. Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, Masrour Barzani, received Ruben Sogoyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Iraq, on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026.

During the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of moving forward in strengthening relations between the Kurdistan Region and Armenia across various fields. Reference was made to the meetings held between the Prime Minister and both the Armenian president and prime minister on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, and the understandings reached there to further consolidate bilateral ties.

The Armenian ambassador expressed his country’s appreciation to the Kurdistan Regional Government for its care and protection of the rights of the Armenian community in the Kurdistan Region.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Kurdistan Regional Government’s comprehensive reform program aimed at building a strong economic infrastructure.
They further discussed the latest developments in Iraq, as well as the ongoing efforts and consultations to elect a president and form a new federal government.
