Barzani Stresses Deepening Fraternal Ties Between the Kurdistan Region and Kuwait

ARK News.. President Masoud Barzani received Hassan Mohammed Zaman, the Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to Iraq, on Thursday, Feb. 12, 2026, at the Salahaddin Resort.

During the meeting, the Kuwaiti ambassador expressed his pleasure at meeting President Barzani and conveyed the greetings and appreciation of Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Amir of Kuwait.

The ambassador also reaffirmed the strength of the historical relations and fraternal bonds between the Kuwaiti and Kurdistani peoples, praising the struggle and sacrifices of the people of the Kurdistan Region in their pursuit of freedom.

For his part, President Barzani conveyed his personal greetings to the Amir of Kuwait and the brotherly Kuwaiti people, referring to the “shared pain” and suffering endured by both the Kurdistani and Kuwaiti peoples during the era of the former Iraqi regime. He stressed the need to deepen fraternal relations and strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The meeting also reviewed the current situation, the challenges and threats facing regional stability in general, and highlighted the latest developments in the political process in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
