ARK News.. The Syrian government has begun procedures to take over Qamishlo International Airport in preparation for resuming its operation, in implementation of the agreement concluded between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

According to the Syrian Ministry of Interior, a delegation from the ministry—represented by the Internal Security Commander in al-Hasaka Governorate, Brigadier General Marwan al-Ali, and the Director of Airport and Border Security, Colonel Ahmad al-Ahmad—held a meeting with SDF representatives to assume management of Qamishlo Airport in Hasaka Governorate, as part of completing the provisions of the agreement between the two sides.

The ministry stated that upon arrival, the delegation headed by Brigadier General al-Ali immediately began on-site procedures inside the airport, including assessing the technical and security situation and setting coordination mechanisms necessary to operate the facility during the coming phase, within the framework of reorganizing the management of vital facilities in the governorate.

Under the terms of the agreement, the oil wells located in northeastern Syrian Kurdistan near the city of Qamishlo are also expected to be handed over to the Syrian government within the coming hours.
