Syrian Yazidi Council Delegation Arrives in Damascus to Address Yazidi Issues
ARK News.. The Syrian Yazidi Council announced in a press statement that an official delegation from the council arrived in Damascus on Friday. The delegation includes Ms. Mizgin Youssef, President of the Syrian Yazidi Council; Mr. Sarhan Issa, the delegation's spokesperson; Dr. Nasser Hassan, the council's representative in Afrin; and Mr. Jamil Ja’far, also representing Afrin.
According to the statement, the delegation will hold a series of meetings with key figures in the new administration. Discussions will focus on the situation of Yazidis, who have long endured the hardships of war, displacement, and marginalization, as well as the challenges they faced under the previous regime and during years of conflict that significantly impacted their historical regions and communities.
The council emphasized that the primary goal of these meetings is to seek practical and sustainable solutions to protect Yazidi rights, ensure their dignified return to their historical lands, and strengthen their role in the country’s future. The delegation also plans to engage with various Syrian national groups as part of their mission to foster dialogue and mutual cooperation among different segments of Syrian society.
The council pledged to share details of the meetings and their outcomes at a later stage.
It is worth noting that Yazidis in Syria, like many other communities, have endured immense suffering during the years of war. They have faced forced displacement, the destruction of their villages, and significant challenges to their cultural and religious identity.
