Saudi Arabia Sends First Humanitarian Aid Plane to Damascus Airport Following Qatar’s Initiative
ARK News.. Days after Qatar sent a humanitarian aid plane to support the Syrian people via Damascus International Airport, Saudi Arabia has followed suit. On Wednesday morning, January 1, 2025, the first Saudi humanitarian aid plane arrived at the airport.
According to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), the Saudi plane carried 28 tons of medical, relief, and shelter supplies. Vehicles from the Syrian Arab Red Crescent were prepared to receive and unload the shipment.
Earlier today, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center announced the launch of "the first wave of Saudi relief airlifts for the Syrian people, carrying food, shelter, and medical supplies, aimed at alleviating the difficult conditions Syrians are facing."
On Monday, December 30, 2024, a Qatari aid plane landed at Damascus International Airport, delivering medical and relief supplies. The arrival was attended by delegations from both the Qatari Red Crescent and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent.
