Preparations Underway for the Syrian National Conference in Damascus

ARK News.. A prominent political source within the new Syrian administration has revealed that preparations are ongoing for the National Conference, scheduled to take place in the Syrian capital, Damascus, on January 4-5, 2025.

According to the source, the conference will host 1,200 Syrian figures invited in their personal capacities, independent of any affiliations. The announcement of the preparatory committee is expected soon.

The committee will be tasked with compiling the guest list and issuing invitations, ensuring representation from all provinces with 70 to 100 attendees per region. The selection will aim to include individuals from diverse social and academic backgrounds, as well as representatives of youth and women.

Invitations will also extend to military personnel and religious leaders from all sects. Regarding Syrians abroad, the source confirmed that invitations will be sent to politicians, civil society representatives, experts, and legal professionals, all in their personal capacities, as no external entities are recognized following the fall of the previous regime.

One of the anticipated outcomes of the conference is the announcement of a committee to draft a new constitution, comprising experts who reflect Syria's diversity. The source also hinted at the possibility of establishing an advisory council for the interim president to provide support and assistance to the executive authority in fulfilling its responsibilities.
