ARK News.. A Syrian human rights source has revealed a grim rise in the number of individuals who have died under torture in the prisons of Bashar al-Assad's regime, with over 58,000 names now documented.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that since the outbreak of the Syrian revolution in 2011, it has documented the deaths of 58,725 individuals under torture in the regime's detention centers. This figure is part of a broader toll exceeding 105,000 deaths within these prisons.

According to the source, the number of those tortured to death in Assad's prisons has risen to 9,939 individuals since the beginning of 2024 alone.

The report underscores the ongoing humanitarian tragedy within Syria, highlighting the urgent need for international accountability and justice for the victims.
